About
My name is Bobby MacDonald, but most people within the Destiny Community know me as Guardian Photographer. I share photos of iconic and memorable destinations within the Destiny universe.
I began shooting photography in 2014 while at Community College. During this time, I took multiple photography courses that helped build the foundation of my photography skill set. I later transferred to CSU Dominguez Hills, where I graduated with a B.A. in Digital Media Arts.
I began playing the Destiny series with the Destiny First Look Alpha back in June 2014. Until the release of the Shadowkeep expansion, I played on PlayStation 4, but switched to PC with the introduction of Cross-Save. It was there that I began shooting Virtual Photography within Destiny 2. My shots were for personal use at first, but after the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I wanted to become more creative with my photos and share them with the Destiny Community. Since then, I have posted thousands of photos across all my social platforms, raised over $5,000 for the Bungie Foundation, and been a guest on both the Guardian Down Cast and Destiny Digest podcasts.
In April 2025, I began doing contract work for Bungie & SIE with the Creative Studios "Capture Art" team as a Capture Runner and Capture Tech. These roles consist of controlling player actors in-game for shoots and providing technical support within the game for shot-specific needs. During this time, I have worked on many trailers, ViDocs, and press kits for both Destiny 2 and Marathon.
